The Systemic Dangers Of Gum Disease

The Systemic Dangers Of Gum Disease
Your mouth is a window to your overall health, and the overall status of your gums and teeth ultimately affects your general wellbeing.

A prominent body of studies suggests that there exists a very strong connection between gum disease and unwanted systemic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, stroke, rheumatoid arthritis, and cancer, among many others.

Dr. Nigel Carter, Chief Executive of the British Dental Foundation, remarks how the link between oral health and overall body health is, in fact, a prominent connection founded on very tangible scientific evidence.

Despite this, however, related research point out that only 1 in every 6 people are actually aware that people who have contracted gum disease are at a high risk of suffering from stroke or diabetes. What is more alarming is that only 1 out of 3 people are aware of the connection between gum and heart disease.
